The World Blood Donor Day

Give blood, give hope: together we save lives

14.06.2025

To mark World Blood Donor Day (14th June 2025), a health awareness session and blood group identification camp were conducted on 13th June 2025 at the Urban Health Training Centre, by the Department of Community Medicine in collaboration with the Department of Pathology.

World Blood Donor Day is celebrated every year to raise public awareness about the critical need for blood and plasma donations and the impact they have on patients’ lives and to encourage both new and existing donors to give blood regularly. The health talk was conducted in two sessions, during which information on blood donation was delivered by interns, medical officers, and senior and junior residents.

The educational session covered various topics related to blood donation, such as the importance of blood donation, the benefits of donating blood, eligibility criteria, the donation process, myths related to blood donation, and post-donation care. The session was interactive, with participants actively engaging by asking questions, and the speakers addressed their doubts. The session also included a camp that aimed at identifying blood groups and raising awareness about the importance of knowing one’s blood type.
