  1. Guest Lecture on Liver Transplantation- What to know (17th March 2018)

Department of Surgery has organized a guest lecture on the Basics of Liver Transplantation delivered by Dr. Suresh Kumar Singhvi, Chief of Transplant Surgery, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. Total of 135 participants have attended including faculty, residents and final year MBBS students. It was highly appreciated by all the participants.

  1. Digital CME on IPOM for incisional Hernia

Department of Surgery participated in a digital CME on IPOM for Incisional Hernia on 17th May 2017 for the surgical residents and interns. Live operations were telecast directly from GEM Hospital, Coimbatore. Dr. Palanivelu, a renowned laparoscopic surgeon has demonstrated the art of Intraperitoneal onlay Mesh repair which was followed by a very interactive session. No of Faculty, residents and interns participated were 27.

                                              

  1. Workshop on Science of Energy (10th Aug 2017)

Department of surgery organized a Workshop on Science of Energy on 10th Aug 2017 for the residents and faculty in collaboration with Johnsons & Johnsons. The program started with Welcome address by the head of the Department, Dr. Musharraf Husain, who stressed the safe and effective use of various energy sources in the operation theatres. It was followed by the demonstration of the correct use of various energy sources including monopolar, bipolar, Harmonic and other advance energy sources. Total of 37 faculty members and residents from surgery and OBG department have participated in this program.

                                               

                                                

 

  1. Digital CME on Management of Mesh Infection in Endo-hernia Surgery (17th May 2017)

Department of Surgery organized a digital CME on the management of Mesh infections on 17th May 2017 for the surgical residents and interns. Basic aim of the workshop was to make the residents aware of the prevention and management of mesh infections in all kinds of laparoscopic hernia surgery. Total of 24 residents and interns were participated in this CME.

                                              

  1. Workshop on Basic Surgical Skills (3rd April 2017)

Department of Surgery organized a one day Basic Surgical Skills course on 3rd April 2017 for Medical students and Interns. Total of 100 medical students from various medical colleges have participated in the workshop in which various skills of knotting and suturing were taught and then the students were given the opportunity to practice.

                                               

                                                

  1. Workshop on Trauma Management (3rd April 2017)

Department of Surgery organized a one day Workshop on Trauma Management on 3rd April 2017 for final year Medical students, Interns and first year residents. Total of 40 students participated in the workshop where various skills required to handle a polytrauma patient were discussed and practiced

                                                 

  1. CME on wound management (27th Feb 2017)

A CME was organized by the department of surgery on 27th Feb. 2017 for the surgical residents and interns. Dr. R K Srivastava, Professor, Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery, Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi has been invited as expert faculty to deliver a talk on Management of Burn wounds. Program started with the welcome address by Dr. Ajay, associate Professor, Dept. of Surgery followed by the Deans address. Dr. Musharraf, Professor and Head Surgery presented his talk on wound dressings. Post lunch session was dedicated for the demonstration of various types of dressings. Program ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Divya. 35 members from surgery and orthopedics department participated in this CME.

                                                         

  1. Workshop on Science of Tissue Management (12th July 2016)

Workshop on Science of Tissue Management is organized by the Department of Surgery on 12th July 2016 for the surgical residents and Final year students. Dr. V K Malik, HOD Surgery, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital has been invited as a faculty who delivered a lecture on good practices of wound closure. Total 22 residents from Surgery and orthopedics have participated in the workshop.

                                                    

                                                     

 

10. Workshop on Basic surgical skills (16th April 2016)

Centre of Excellence (Endo-Skill Lab), a joint collaboration of HIMSR, Jamia Hamdard and Meril Academy was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. G.N. Qazi, Jamia Hamdard on 16th April 2016. Post- inauguration, a half day workshop was organized on Basic Surgical Skills in which residents of surgical departments and medical students participated. There were 24 participants in all who were given the opportunity to learn the finer techniques of knot tying, suturing and various exercises of hand-eye coordination in laparoscopy. Faculty of the workshop was Dr. Pavitra Ganguly, Professor, Dept. of Surgery and Dr. Musharraf Husain, Prof. and HOD Surgery, HIMSR.

                                                    

                                                    

11. Workshop cum CME on Basics of Bariatric Surgery (29th March 2016)

A full day workshop cum CME on Bariatric Surgery was organized by the department on 29th March 2016. Renowned International and National Bariatric Surgeons have participated and demonstrated their skills. Workshop started with the Live Demonstration of Sleeve Gastrectomy, followed by hands-on training on wet tissue. Last session was of interactive lectures by experts in the field.

                                                       

                                                      

  1. Guest Lecture on Cancer and Reconstruction (4th2016)

Department of Surgery has organized a guest lecture on Cancer and Reconstruction delivered by Dr. Adil Hafeez Wani, Prof. and HOD Plastic Surgery, SKIMS, Srinagar. Total of 75 participants have attended including faculty, residents and final year students.
