Food Safety & Nutrition – “Healthy & Safe Food for All”
The Food Safety Committee of HIMSR and HAH Centenary Hospital organized a day-long workshop on “Healthy & Safe Food for All” on 11th September 2025 at the Medical Education Unit. The event aimed to promote awareness on food safety, hygiene, and nutrition practices within healthcare and community settings. It was attended by 30 participants – Patient Safety Champions, Medical Social Workers and postgraduate doctors. This was the 2nd such workshop this year.
The workshop began with a warm-up introduction session by Dr. Bhumika Upadhyay, followed by an introduction to Food Safety by Dr. Aqsa Shaikh. The early sessions covered the basics of food safety by Dr. Mohd Rashid and hygiene practices by Dr. Jayanthi. A panel discussion on safe food for mothers and children featured Dr. Dina Khan and Dr. Sana Salim Khan, moderated by Dr. Aqsa Shaikh. Dr. Fathima Beevi and Ms. Farah Farooque highlighted the journey of food within HIMSR & HAHC premises.
Discussions on food adulteration and contamination were conducted by Dr. Ayan Das. Post-lunch, Dr. Rajawal spoke on nutraceuticals and food-drug interactions. Patient Feedback and Incident reporting presented by Dr. Abhishek Sharma, followed by food safety audits by Dr. Ayan Das and Dr. Bhumika. Feedback collection and a group photograph concluded the workshop.
The workshop was highly interactive and educational, reinforcing the importance of safe food practices for health promotion.
