Report on Induction Program of PG 2026

The Induction Programme for the MD/MS Batch 2025 was successfully organized by the Medical Education Unit (MEU), HIMSR, on 2nd April 2026.

The programme was designed to familiarize newly admitted postgraduate students with institutional policies, academic structure, and their clinical responsibilities.

The inaugural session was conducted by Dr. Sana Alam and commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. This was followed by an address from CEO, HIMSR, Dr. G. N. Qazi, who emphasized the institution’s vision, commitment to academic excellence, and expectations from postgraduate trainees. This was followed by the welcome address by Dr. Musharraf Husain, Dean, HIMSR, highlighting the roles and responsibilities of postgraduate students. This was followed by an introduction to HAHC Hospital by Dr. Prem Kapoor, Officiating Medical Superintendent, who provided an overview of the hospital and its functioning. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sabina Khan, MEU Coordinator and Head of the Department of Pathology.

The day began with participant registration, followed by an interactive ice-breaking session conducted by the MEU team and facilitated by Dr. Sulmaz. Sessions started with an informative overview of postgraduate byelaws and institutional rules by Dr. Sabina Khan.

Participants were then oriented to key institutional committees, including the Anti-Ragging Committee by Dr. Iqbal Alam and the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) by Dr. Zeeba. An introduction to the various facilities and services available at HIMSR was provided by Dr. Aqsa Sheikh.

Further sessions covered essential topics such as patient safety, NABH guidelines, and hospital infection control. An interesting session on mental health awareness and grievance redressal was conducted by Dr. Aqsa Sheikh. Dr. Fahad conducted an enriching session on ordering investigations and prescription writing, followed by Dr. Tajamul, who emphasized the importance of proper clinical documentation.

The programme concluded with a group photograph, followed by high tea and a feedback session.

Overall, the induction programme was informative and well-received, providing a strong foundation for the academic and clinical journey of the new postgraduate batch in HIMSR.
