Report on the Celebration of the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 (June 21, 2026)

 

The Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (HIMSR) celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2026 at the HIMSR Foyer. The event was organized under the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing‘ and witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, students, and supporting staffs.

The programme commenced with the assembly of participants, followed by the welcome address delivered by Prof. Musharraf Hussain, Dean/Principal, HIMSR. He highlighted the importance of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being and encouraged participants to adopt yoga as a regular lifestyle practice.

The occasion was graced by Shri Chandan Kumar Chaudhary, MLA, Sangam Vihar, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the role of yoga in fostering a healthier society and promoting healthy ageing.

The yoga session was conducted by Dr. Shubhra Gautam (Yoga instructor), who guided participants through various yogic postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques. The session focused on enhancing flexibility, balance, mindfulness, and overall wellness, and was actively attended by faculty members, students, and supporting staff.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof. Ajay Thakral, Officiating Medical Superintendent, HAHC Hospital. He expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Dean, yoga instructor, participants, and organizing team for making the event a success.
