CME AND WORKSHOPS

As part of continous medical education the department organises workshops, seminars, case presentations and Journal club from time to time.

• As part of the national observance of Eye Donation Fortnight 2025, the Department of Ophthalmology organized a series of academic, community awareness, and health care givers engagement activities to promote the noble cause of eye donation.
• Invited Talk on “Corneal Transplantation: Revolution in Evolution” by Namrata Sharma, Professor, R.P. Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi. Tuesday, 26^th August 2025 in LT-1, HIMSR
• On 27^th August 2025 at Urban Health Training Centre, Pul Prahalad Pur a sensitization & educational program was organised for the local community focusing on myths & facts of corneal donation, steps to take at the time of eye donation. The details of corneal retrieval centre at HAHC Hospital was also shared through distribution of pamphlets.
• On 2^nd September 2025 an Eye Donation Promotion Drive was conducted at the Reception, New OPD Block B, eye OPD. Interactive sessions with patients and staff highlighted the significance of pledging for eye donation. A role play was also enacted by the residents demonstrating counselling techniques for healthcare providers to encourage eye donation among grieving families.
• CME on “The Role of Healthcare Professionals in Eye Donation and Grief Counselling” was held on 3^rd September 2025 in LT-1, HIMSR, from 2:00–3:00 PM for faculty, staff and students including paramedics and Technicians
• Invited talk: Dr. Manisha Acharya, Director – Cornea & Eye Banking Services, Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, New Delhi delivered a talk on “Mission Eye Donation”. Acharya emphasized the critical role healthcare professionals play in facilitating eye donation and supporting grieving families.

• On the occasion of Cornea Donation Awareness Program   March 2025 on this occasion, department of Ophthalmology successfully conducted awareness programs among student’s staff and community
• Guest lecture BY Dr. Deven Tuli, Consultant Glaucoma (RP Center, AIIMS New Delhi), 28^thApril 2025 on How Not to MICS Glaucoma in Clinic.
• Guest lecture by Dr.Anita Ganger, Associate Consultant (GNEC, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital), 28^thApril 2025 on Management of cataract Surgery Associated Dry Eye.
• Guest lecture by Dr Harsh Kumar (Director Glaucoma Services Centre for Sight, New Delhi), 23rd Sep-24 : Practical tips for glaucoma management and glaucoma progression early step up
• Guest Lecture on “Basic of Squint ” by Prof Dr Subhash Dadiya (Director- Professor Gurunanak Eye Centre) on 23rd August 2024 at 12 pm

·         Workshop by Alcon Phaco Development Programme Team on 31st August 2024 2.30-3.30 pm. On Astigmatism, Toric IOL’s Toric Calculator and Axis marking.

·         Department of Ophthalmology Organised a Four day Program on the occasion of Angdaan Jan Jagrukta Abhiyaan, as well as the 14th Indian Organ Donation Day, 31-July to 3-August 2024. The Event comprised of awareness program for the nurses, students and residents, poster and slogan completion, skit focussing on the importance of organ donation was performed. Prof. Vishnu Gupta and Dr. Anwara gave an enlightening and motivating talk on organ donation and eye donation which was attended by all HIMSR faculty, residents and students.
